An interview with Stacey Newton on just getting on with it

by Fiona Farmer BVSc MRCVS

Stacey’s journey from a child helping on her family farm in Yorkshire to her role as the head clinical pathologist at NationWide Laboratories showcases her dedication to veterinary medicine. Inspired by her love for horses, she pursued her veterinary degree at Bristol, graduating in 1993, and later completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Leahurst.

Throughout her career, Stacey has tackled various challenges head-on, whether as a sole charge locum or in mixed and equine practice. Her commitment to practical experience shines through in her belief that time in practice is essential for effective pathology work.

Stacey also values the importance of mentorship, actively sharing her knowledge with pathology trainees and emphasising the need for continuous learning in our field. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening and running, having completed multiple marathons.

We are proud to have Stacey on our team, and her story is a valuable reminder of the importance of hard work and perseverance in veterinary medicine.
